Here are some photos from late Sept and early October. I went hiking and to an art walk on a Thursday, and then that Saturday I attended my friend’s birthday. If you want to view them in higher resolution you can check my Flickr
I can’t wait until November 12th. Grizzly Bear will be releasing the B-sides and bonus tracks from 2012′s album Shields. So here, I present you with the songs Will Calls and Listen and Wait.
Darkside is a collaboration between Nicolas Jaar and Dave Harrington. They completely rearranged the songs in Daft Punk’s album Random Access Memories to create an experimental groove. They have a distinct style epitomized in their latest LP, Psychic. Here is a video of the duo performing Freak, Go Home.
Look at that moogerfooger. This is a foogin’ good tune.
Dan Lopatin, or Oneohtrix Point Never, is a Brooklyn-based producer who makes music that as a whole is almost impossible to categorize. According to Xlr8r, he has weaved through many different styles; he “initially made his name with a series of trippily drifting synthscapes, recent years have found him consistently expanding his artistic vision, to the point where describing his sound is all but impossible.” Here are three songs off his album Returnal, in addition to a two hour long podcast he did for Xlr8r, and one of my favorite tracks off this podcast by Taylor Deupree.

Come celebrate Basti’s (half of Final DJs) birthday with their latest remix of Stevie Nicks’ Stand Back. Another year has passed, but this track takes us back again to the italo disco-flavored synth of the 80s. Let the synthwave take you out to sea, let the “deep galactic” sounds take you on a space adventure, and let the driving disco vibes take you on the ride of your life. Happy birthday Basti!
Class is in! Today we are starting the women’s studies unit. WMNSTUDIES is a Vancouver-based duo consisting of Zach Smith and Nathan SaveMeBoots. The two met at production school 5 years ago and have been at it ever since. In an interview with Nathan, I learned that he’s into “UK garage like Bondax, Disclosure, the whole French Express gang”, and some of his favorite songs at the moment include “Giving it All by Bondax, Be Mine by Lane 8, Permission to Love by Hayden James”. WMNSTUDIES just released their track Make You. Like all their music, it’s a perfect balance of smooth synthpop and downtempo nudisco vibes. So keep an eye on these guys because by the end of the year they plan to release a 4-5 track EP. While we all await its arrival, we can listen to these tunes. Class dismissed!

I’m in San Jose staying at a friends condo. We have the ocean and the pool to ourselves. The water is beautiful, the sun is bright, the wind is warm – how can I not, not take pictures?? Here are some photos from yesterday’s shoot! If you want to view them in higher resolution you can check my Flickr
